Steam Machine review units reportedly sent out ahead of late-June announcement
Valve may be close to sharing more details on Steam Machine and Steam Frame, at least according to one account tracking the company’s hardware plans.
Steam Hardware Updates, an account not affiliated with Valve, claims that reviewers are now receiving Steam Machine and Steam Frame units . The same account claims that Valve is expected to announce hardware reservations and pricing between June 22 and June 30. It also claims that the creator embargo for hardware reviews may lift after June 23.
What’s in Steam Machine review bundle
According to the account, the Steam Machine review kit includes the system, a Steam Controller and two mounting brackets. Separate boxes for Steam Machine faceplates were also shown, although it is not clear if those will ship by default or remain optional accessories. The account later said it is not fully sure whether the Steam Controller is included with every Steam Machine package.
The photos alone do not confirm review seeding, and David Heaney (UploadVR) noted that Valve already had similar boxes on display at its headquarters in November. Still, the timing lines up with other recent signs around Valve’s upcoming hardware.

Officially launching this summer
Valve has already confirmed that Steam Machine and Steam Frame are “shipping this summer.” We recently covered that update after Valve expanded its Steam Verified program beyond Steam Deck. We also covered the new Steam Controller unboxing asset appearing in SteamDB, another sign that Valve is preparing its hardware rollout.
Valve recently imported about 13 tons of VR headsets, likely Steam Frame units, and that roughly 141 metric tons of Steam Machine units may now be in the United States. Recent FCC documents for Valve’s “Video Game Machine” include dates that may point to public documentation becoming available near the end of June. Neither has directly mentioned “Machine” or “Frame” as a product name, though.
