AMD Radeon reaches 19% in Steam Hardware Survey, RX 9070 XT and RX 9060 XT appear
RX 9000 cards finally show up in larger numbers.
Valve has published the Steam Hardware & Software Survey for May 2026. Yes this survey data was a bit delayed, but perhaps that’s a good thing given they often have issues with data presentation. The latest chart shows AMD reaching 19.13% in PC video card usage by manufacturer.
NVIDIA remains far ahead at 72.42%. Intel is listed at 8.05%, while Other accounts for 0.40%. Steam’s survey is optional and anonymous, so the data should not be treated as a direct market share report. Worth noting that NVIDIA peaked at 84.7% during Chinese New Year, basically showing how data can change simply because a large gaming community has more time to play games.

The May data also brings two new RDNA 4 entries to the GPU list. The Radeon RX 9070 XT appears at 1.35%, while the Radeon RX 9060 XT is listed at 0.79%. Both cards were missing from earlier monthly tables, despite being available for over a year now.
This follows the April survey, where the Radeon RX 9070 appeared as the only named RDNA 4 desktop GPU entry. At that time, RX 9070 was listed at 0.17%, while NVIDIA already had every desktop RTX 50 SKU listed in the main table.

The CPU chart also continues to move toward AMD. On Windows systems, GenuineIntel is listed at 55.02%, down 0.79 points, while AuthenticAMD is at 44.97%, up 0.79 points. Combined platform data shows AMD at 46.06% and Intel at 53.94%.
If the current trend from early 2025 continues in a straight line, AMD and Intel could reach parity on Steam around March 2027. That is only a projection based on current survey movement. Valve’s data can shift from month to month due to sampling changes, but I admit I’m starting to see HW Survey a lot more often these days on my systems.
