MSI Claw 8 EX AI+ Lands At $1,699, Nearly Doubling The Claw 8 AI+ As Handheld Prices Spiral

The new G3 Extreme-based gaming handheld won't be cheap and will be far more expensive than the existing Claw 8 handheld.

Right when the MSI Claw EX AI+ handheld started to appear in various retail stores for a sub-$2000 price tag, we knew that this handheld was going to be much more expensive than the current CLAW 8 handhelds. Despite knowing that the prices were placeholders, it already appeared that MSI won't price it any lower than $1,500 , as the memory and SSDs have been pushing PC prices significantly upwards.

As MSI officially lists the Claw EX AI+ handheld on the website , it's now confirmed that the gaming handheld will be the most expensive handheld from the company. While the MSI Claw 8 AI+ was priced at $899, the Claw EX AI+ starts at $1,699, which is almost twice as expensive as the Claw 8 AI+. On the official MSI website, the handheld with Intel Arc G3 Extreme is listed at $1,799. It features 32 GB LPDDR5X memory and 1 TB PCIe Gen 4 M.2 storage in the configuration.

The same handheld is listed on Newegg for $1,699, and the page is currently live on the retailer. However, the handheld isn't available for purchase yet, and Newegg hasn't disclosed the availability or shipping date. On Best Buy , we can find the Claw 8 EX AI+ CG3EM 8-inch 120Hz handheld for the same $1,699 price tag.

Regardless of the $100 price difference, the Claw 8 EX AI+ is an expensive handheld that is competing with Strix Halo handhelds when it comes to price. However, the Strix Halo handhelds are now listing for over $2,000 since RAMpocalypse started. Therefore, the Claw 8 EX AI+ price doesn't surprise us that much. Still, we were assuming the handheld would cost no more than $1,500, but it's shocking to see that gaming handhelds are now costing as much as mid-range computers.
