AMD Zen 6 “Olympic Ridge” desktop CPUs rumored to add NPU and drop integrated graphics.

AMD’s next-generation Ryzen desktop processors, reportedly codenamed “Olympic Ridge,” may bring a major change to the standard desktop lineup. According to X user Gotou_3rd, the Zen 6-based platform will add an integrated NPU and CUDIMM support, but it will remove integrated graphics.

The same source claims that Olympic Ridge will still lack a native USB4 controller. This would mean motherboard vendors would need external controllers for USB4 ports, as they do on current AM5 boards.

CUDIMM support, but still no native USB4

Removing integrated graphics would be a change from Ryzen 7000 and Ryzen 9000 desktop CPUs. Most AM5 desktop Ryzen processors include basic Radeon Graphics, which is mainly used for display output, office systems and troubleshooting without a discrete graphics card.

The integrated NPU would bring AI acceleration to AMD’s standard desktop Ryzen lineup. AMD already offers Ryzen AI desktop APUs for OEM systems, but those are based on mobile-style APU silicon. Olympic Ridge is expected to be the main Zen 6 desktop CPU family.

Olympic Ridge is expected to debut in 2027 and will remain on the AM5 socket. Earlier leaks also pointed to a new 12-core CCD design, with possible 6-, 8-, 10-, 12-, 16-, 20- a nd 24-core configurations. AMD has not confirmed these specifications, so the information should still be treated as rumor.
