GPU-Z 2.70.0 released, older builds should be updated
TechPowerUp has released GPU-Z v2.70.0, the latest version of its GPU information and monitoring tool. The first item in the changelog is improved kernel driver security, and TechPowerUp is encouraging users to update.
GPU-Z uses a kernel-mode driver for low-level hardware access. This makes security updates more relevant than a typical hardware detection update. The release notes do not list a CVE, so the exact change in v2.70.0 is not confirmed.
The update follows several recent reports around TechPowerUp low-level drivers. More recent reports also focused on TRIXX.sys, a TechPowerUp-signed driver linked to GPU-Z and Sapphire TRIXX. When reports on GPU-Z security issues emerged, we asked TechPowerUP about the issue, and they confirmed that they are aware and they are encouraging security researchers to provide further details, but some reports were for older vulnerabilities that were already fixed.

GPU-Z security updates
This is not the first recent GPU-Z release with security-related driver changes. GPU-Z 2.67.0 added a new low-level driver to address potential security issues. Version 2.68.0 then improved driver file security during unpacking, while version 2.69.0 improved kernel-mode driver stability.
GPU-Z 2.70.0 also adds support for Qualcomm Adreno 741, Snapdragon X2 Elite, Adreno 778G and Adreno 782G graphics. Intel support now includes Arc Pro B70, Arc Pro B65, A60 ES and Alder Lake ES. NVIDIA support has been added for RTX 6000D, RTX PRO 500 Blackwell Embedded, Tesla V100-DGXS 32GB and PG500-216.
