NVIDIA releases GeForce 582.66 security driver for older Maxwell, Pascal and Volta GPUs

NVIDIA has released GeForce 582.66 WHQL, a new Release 580 branch driver for older GeForce GPUs based on Maxwell, Pascal and Volta architectures. This is not a Game Ready driver for new titles. NVIDIA calls it a software security update for GPUs that are no longer supported by Game Ready Drivers.
The driver supports Windows 10 and Windows 11 and applies only to Maxwell, Volta and Pascal based GeForce products. NVIDIA says the update addresses issues that may lead to multiple security impacts. The package still includes common components such as HD Audio Driver 1.4.5.0, PhysX 9.23.1019, CUDA 13.0 and NVIDIA Control Panel 8.1.968.0.

Open issues remain
The 582.66 notes l ist no fixed gaming bugs and no fixed general bugs. Instead, the open issue list still includes distorted text in Counter-Strike 2 when the in-game resolution is lower than the native display resolution. It also lists light flickering in Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth on some system configurations after a driver update. The same two bug IDs were resolved in the newer R590 driver branch.
For owners of older GTX and TITAN cards, GeForce 582.66 is still worth installing for security reasons. It should not be treated as a driver that adds new game profiles, performance tuning or fixes for current game issues.
