Persona 6 was officially announced this month by publisher Atlus and SEGA during this year's Xbox Games Showcase for PC, PlayStation 5 , and Xbox Series X|S , but with the short teaser showing little, many believe the game is still a ways off. However, the chances of 2027 becoming the year of Persona have increased significantly today, thanks to a discovery made by the starved community.
As reported by user HelpfulAdeptness8583 on the Gaming Leaks and Rumors subreddit , a video game translator going by indigozeal on Tumblr shared that they are working on Persona 6's translation, specifically for script translation duties . What makes this announcement interesting is the timeline: the translator mentioned back in January to have started working on a secret project, which was indeed the unannounced next entry in the Atlus series, suggesting that translation and localization work could have begun as early as late 2025 .
Although there is no way to know how far along the translation and localization work for Persona 6 is, the timeline would definitely fit with a late 2027 release . Earlier this month, P-Studio made it clear the focus would be on Persona 4 Revival until its launch in February 2027 , and with known leaker lolilolailo saying that fans shouldn't read too much into the teaser not having a release window , chances of two Persona games launching next year have become considerably higher.
If Persona 6 indeed launches in 2027, next year is going to be a landmark year for role-playing games . With Persona 4 Revival , Fable , Final Fantasy VII Revelation , Xenoblade Genesis and potentially Kingdom Hearts 4 , fans of the genre have a lot to look forward to.
