ViewSonic launches 23.8-inch 4K 160Hz gaming monitor in China

ViewSonic has launched the VX24G26J-4K, a 23.8-inch gaming monitor with a 3840×2160 resolution and 160 Hz refresh rate. This is a rare combination for this size class, where most gaming monitors still use 1080p panels.
The monitor is part of the VX series and uses a Fast IPS panel. At 23.8 inches and 4K resolution, it reaches 185 PPI , which is higher than a 27-inch 4K monitor at around 163 PPI. This should make text and desktop use sharper, although gaming at native 4K will still require a capable GPU.
Small 4K panel, 160 Hz refresh rate
The VX24G26J-4K supports 1 ms GtG response time, 1000:1 contrast, 400 nits brightness and 8-bit color. ViewSonic lists 100% sRGB, 95% DCI-P3 and 95% Adobe RGB coverage. The monitor also has HDR10 support and VESA DisplayHDR 400 certification.

ViewSonic is also using what it calls a Nano Obsidian Screen. The company says this is a glossy low-reflection coating with 1.8% reflectance. The monitor supports Adaptive-Sync and is listed with AMD FreeSync and NVIDIA G-Sync compatibility. Other features include black level stabilization, crosshair overlays, ViewMode presets, hardware low blue light and flicker-free operation.
For connectivity, the VX24G26J-4K has one DisplayPort 1.4 port, two HDMI 2.1 ports and a headphone output. The stand supports height, tilt, swivel and pivot adjustment. VESA 100×100 mm mounting is also supported.
The monitor is currently listed in China. Chinese listings show a 2,199 RMB price, which is around $306 before tax . ViewSonic has not announced US or EU pricing yet, and there is no confirmed launch date outside China.
