ASRock releases B550 Rock WiFi, a new motherboard for AMD’s ten-year-old AM4 platform

ASRock B550 Rock WiFi brings Wi-Fi 6E and 2.5G LAN to AM4

ASRock has released the B550 Rock WiFi, a new ATX motherboard for AMD’s Socket AM4 platform. According to GDM, the board will launch in Japan on June 26 with an expected price of ¥16,980 including tax, or around $105.

This is another 2026 motherboard for AM4, a socket that first appeared in 2016 with AMD’s Bristol Ridge platform. Ryzen arrived the following year, yet motherboard vendors are still adding products for the same socket nearly ten years later. That is a rare situation for a desktop platform, but AM4 still has active demand thanks to DDR4 memory and a large Ryzen CPU lineup. In fact, AMD has just celebrated the 10th anniversary for this socket and next week the 5800X3D is coming back to the market .

We recently covered MSI’s new B550 boards , the PRO B550M-P and PRO B550M-B. Those were micro-ATX entry models with 1GbE LAN and simpler specifications. ASRock’s B550 Rock WiFi appears to target more complete AM4 builds, with an ATX layout, Wi-Fi 6E, 2.5G LAN and three M.2 slots.

The board uses the AMD B550 chipset and supports Ryzen 3000, Ryzen 3000G, Ryzen 4000G, Ryzen 5000 and Ryzen 5000G processors. ASRock lists a 10-phase power design, four DDR4 DIMM slots and up to 128GB of memory support. The board supports DDR4-4733+ through overclocking, depending on the CPU.

Storage includes one Hyper M.2 slot with PCIe 4.0 x4, one Ultra M.2 slot with PCIe 3.0 x4 and SATA support, one M.2 slot with PCIe 3.0 x2 and four SATA 6Gbps ports. Expansion includes one PCIe 4.0 x16 slot and one PCIe 3.0 x16 slot wired as x2. ASRock also includes a pre-installed wireless card for Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth.

The rear I/O includes HDMI output, USB Type-C, USB 3.2 Gen1, USB 2.0, Realtek 2.5G LAN and 7.1-channel audio based on the Realtek ALC897 codec. ASRock notes that this model may not be sold worldwide, so availability may depend on region. For now, the confirmed launch is Japan.
