Valve’s Steam Machine gets a Portal-style Companion Cube enclosure from dbrand
The cube now gets another cube.
Dbrand has opened preorders for its Companion Cube enclosure for Valve’s upcoming Steam Machine. The accessory turns Valve’s compact SteamOS PC into a Portal-style Companion Cube.
This is not just a vinyl skin. dbrand calls it an enclosure, with separate panels, screws, magnets, ventilation cutouts and LED pass-through. The design keeps the rear I/O and exhaust area open, while the front I/O remains hidden behind removable covers.
Dbrand is offering two versions. The full Companion Cube edition costs $129.95 and includes collectible packaging, a Test Chamber Steam Controller skin, a Super Button stand and a cake-themed suede cloth. The cheaper Poverty Cube drops the price by $30 to $99.95 , but removes the extras and ships in a plain cardboard box.
The company says the enclosure has two height profiles through reversible rubber feet. The front panel is magnetic and can be removed for cleaning or maintenance. The package also includes a 2.5 mm Allen key for the rear panel screws.
According to dbrand’s specification table, the enclosure measures 186.6 mm on each side and weighs 1.049 kg. Materials include polycarbonate and polyurethane panels, M3 screws and N52 neodymium magnets.

This probably means that Steam Machine is launching very soon. The $130 version will launch at the end of next month, while $100 Poverty Edition will ship in October. SteamDeckHQ received a sample, which looks like this:
