Valve Steam Machine offers performance between Radeon RX 7600 and RX 6600
2TB bundle includes Steam Controller and extra faceplates.
Valve has officially announced Digital Foundry has published its Steam Machine review and included the first pricing details for Valve’s upcoming SteamOS mini PC. According to the the company, the base model with 512GB of storage will cost $1049 in the US and £879 in the UK.
The higher configuration is listed at $1428 or £1208. This version comes with 2TB of storage, a bundled Steam Controller and two extra faceplates, one red fabric and one solid walnut. Digital Foundry does not list a standalone 2TB model without the controller bundle.

Valve has not disclosed the exact AMD CPU and GPU model names. The system uses a semi-custom AMD Zen 4 CPU with 6 cores and 12 threads. The GPU is based on RDNA 3 Navi 33 with 28 compute units, up to 2.45 GHz clock and 8GB of GDDR6 memory.
Digital Foundry says the GPU is connected through an eight-lane PCIe 4.0 interface. The report says performance lands between Radeon RX 6600 and Radeon RX 7600, depending on the game. The system also has 16GB of DDR5-5600 memory in a single SODIMM configuration, 512GB or 2TB M.2 2230 storage and support for 2230 or 2280 SSD replacements.

The price puts Steam Machine well above current game consoles. However, Valve is selling this as a compact SteamOS PC rather than a subsidized console. SteamOS 3.8 has already added support for upcoming Steam Machine hardware and support for waking a SteamOS device from sleep with a connected Steam Controller.
