Club386 joins growing list of RTX 5090 melted connector reports
Another media outlet has reported a melted 12V-2×6 cable on an RTX 5090 test system.

The outlet says this was not caused by an extension cable or low-cost adapter. According to Club386, the system used a dedicated single 12V-2×6 cable, which was firmly connected before the failure. T he card and the PSU were both damaged.
Either GPU review media can’t handle NVIDIA GPUs or something is not quite right
This case is different from many Reddit reports because it happened in a press test system. Club386 says it has years of experience testing graphics cards and does not consider this a user error case. However, this isn’t the only case of a review outlet experiencing a melted connector. More recently, German PCMasters experienced a similar issue. Daniel Owen also had the same problem just before Computex.
So what is wrong? Either reviewers can’t test GPUs or there’s something (seriously) wrong with the design.

The newer 12V-2×6 design was introduced after the original 12VHPWR issues on RTX 40 series cards. It changed the pin design to reduce partial-insertion risk, but reports of damaged cables and connectors have continued on RTX 50 series cards. I lost count how many reports we covered and how little was done to fix it (apart from hundreds of new accessories).
Club386 reports that NVIDIA has replaced their card. I’m curious how quickly such support would be available to random users.
