The Fwupd 2.1 series has been seeing a lot of security fixes uncovered by Anthropic's Mythos and other AI/LLM security research. Now Fwupd 2.0.21 incorporates many of those security fixes for those still relying on the Fwupd 2.0.x series, such as for Linux distributions not prone to moving to new feature release versions in their stable archives.
Red Hat's Richard Hughes who leads Linux Vendor Firmware Service (LVFS) and Fwupd development noted in today's announcement:
"This release backports fixes for over 250 potential security issues found using various AI security scanners over the last 3 months.
The 2.1.x releases include even more fixes and hardening work, and so most users should use those instead; this release is provided for the more conservative distros."
