Steam Machine sells out on Komodo Station after skipping reservation queue
Komodo Station shows all Steam Machine models as sold out shortly after launch.
Valve’s Steam Machine has reached Asia through Komodo Station, the company’s official distributor for Japan, Taiwan, and Hong Kong. Unlike the Steam store in the US and Europe, Komodo did not use a reservation queue for the new SteamOS mini PC.
The system was made available directly through the store, with all four Japanese configurations now listed as sold out. This includes the 512GB model, 512GB model with Steam Controller, 2TB model, and 2TB model with Steam Controller.
Japanese pricing starts at ¥189,980 for the 512GB model, or around $1,175. The 512GB bundle with Steam Controller costs ¥204,980, or around $1,268. The 2TB model is listed at ¥249,980, or around $1,546, while the 2TB bundle costs ¥264,980, or around $1,639.

These prices are higher than US pricing, where the Steam Machine starts at $1,049 for the 512GB model. The 2TB model costs $1,349, while controller bundles add $79. However, Japanese prices include consumption tax, so the final difference is smaller than a direct regional price comparison suggests.
Valve has already confirmed that it is not subsidizing the Steam Machine like a traditional console. The company says the product is meant to be one PC gaming option among many, not a locked platform.
