LDLC’s “Stim Machine” brings RX 9060 XT hardware below Steam Machine pricing
Valve’s Steam Machine has already received its first retail parody. French retailer LDLC has launched the “LDLC PC STIM,” a compact gaming PC clearly aimed at Valve’s new SteamOS system.
LDLC compares its “Stim Machine” directly against the Steam Machine and even uses a side-by-side spec table. The retailer lists its own system with green checkmarks, while Valve’s box gets red crosses. Subtle? Not quite.

LDLC’s system starts at €999.99 as a kit or €1,039.99 assembled. The assembled price lines up almost exactly with the European price of Valve’s 512GB Steam Machine, which is listed at €1,039 without the Steam Controller. Valve’s bundle with the controller costs €1,108.
The LDLC PC STIM is based on an AMD Ryzen 5 8400F processor with 6 cores and 12 threads. It also includes a Radeon RX 9060 XT 8GB graphics card, 16GB of DDR5 memory, a 500GB NVMe SSD and Wi-Fi. The system is built around standard PC components, with LDLC listing a B650 motherboard and a SilverStone Sugo SG13B-Q case.

LDLC’s comparison focuses mainly on the GPU. The retailer points out that Valve’s Steam Machine uses a semi-custom RDNA 3 graphics processor with 28 compute units, while its own PC uses a discrete Radeon RX 9060 XT based on RDNA 4. LDLC also mentions upgradeable memory up to 128GB and additional SATA storage support.
The system does not ship with Windows. The kit version is also not assembled, which is where some of the joke loses its console angle. LDLC says a SteamOS tutorial is included, but Valve still has the advantage of shipping a ready-to-use SteamOS system with its own form factor, controller integration and living-room setup.
In the end, it’s Valve that are winning here, because retailer is still promoting their operating system.
