GTA 6 disc edition reportedly planned for PS5 and Xbox Series X
GTA 6 pre-orders are starting with boxed copies that contain a digital code. According to a new report, Rockstar may release a proper disc version after launch, possibly in December 2026.

Grand Theft Auto VI will not ship with a disc in its launch physical edition, but this may not be the final plan for boxed copies. A new report from PPE claims that Rockstar’s code-in-box release will be limited to the first production run.
According to the Polish outlet, a normal disc-based edition for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X is currently expected after launch, possibly in December 2026 .
PPE.pl quotes its source as saying: “ Generally, the code release will be one run, and then there will be an option for a disc release. ” The outlet also posted what it says is a Rockstar Support response, stating that current pre-orders concern digital delivery and that a physical copy will be available in the following months.

Rockstar has publicly confirmed GTA VI pre-orders for June 25, while the launch physical version has been listed as a download-code release rather than a traditional disc. The game launches November 19, 2026 for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, with preload access starting November 12.

A later disc version would also explain the current launch setup. A code-only box gives Rockstar more control over early retail leaks, while still allowing stores to sell a boxed product before launch. It also means collectors may have to wait past launch if they want a copy with an actual disc.
