Microsoft extends Windows 10 security updates to October 2027
Windows 10 users get another year before consumer ESU ends.
Microsoft has updated its Windows 10 Consumer Extended Security Updates program. The support page now says enrolled PCs will receive coverage until October 12, 2027.
Windows 10 reached end of support on October 14, 2025. Microsoft no longer provides regular technical support, feature updates or standard security updates for the operating system. The ESU program is now the only consumer option for keeping eligible Windows 10 PCs covered by critical and important security updates.

The change extends the consumer ESU timeline by another year. Microsoft says users can enroll at any time until the program ends. Users who are already enrolled will have their coverage continue automatically through the new date.
The program is available for Windows 10 version 22H2 Home, Professional, Pro Education and Workstations editions. Microsoft lists three enrollment options: syncing PC settings at no additional cost, redeeming 1,000 Microsoft Rewards points or making a one-time $30 purchase. One ESU license can be used on up to 10 devices.
RPCS3 promises Windows 10 support
The extension also affects software projects that still support Windows 10. RPCS3, the open-source PlayStation 3 emulator, said it will continue to work on Windows 10 throughout 2027. The team said it has no current plans to drop Windows 10 support, but still recommends moving to Windows 11 or Linux eventually.
As Microsoft extends Windows 10 Home's Extended Security Updates for +1 year, until Oct 2027, you can rest assured that RPCS3 will continue to work on W10 throughout 2027.
