Framework cuts Laptop 13 Pro Gen 5 SSD pricing after Apple raises Mac prices
The change applies to Framework Laptop 13 Pro DIY Edition configurations with PCIe Gen 5 SSDs . Framework says it has qualified ADATA’s XPG MARS 970 SSD, which will replace the previous Gen 5 option.
According to Framework, the new SSD offers better performance, efficiency and long-term reliability at a lower cost. The company now offers the drive in 1TB and 2TB capacities for new Laptop 13 Pro pre-orders.

Existing pre-orders are also being updated. Framework says all Laptop 13 Pro orders that included the previous Gen 5 SSD options will move to the ADATA drives, with reduced pricing applied to those orders. Customers who selected the earlier 500GB Gen 5 SSD will be moved to the 1TB ADATA model at a lower price.
The company says it secured a “reasonable sized batch” of the ADATA SSDs, but it is still working on supply for more Gen 5 SSDs. Framework also confirmed that pre-built systems are not affected by this specific change, as those currently use Gen 4 drives.
Framework says CPU pricing may go up soon
The price cut comes with a warning. Framework says it has received signals that CPU pricing may increase soon, which means overall Framework Laptop 13 Pro pricing may be adjusted for new orders in the coming weeks.
