AYANEO Pocket MICRO 2 handheld launches with Snapdragon 865-class chip for $239

AYANEO Pocket MICRO 2 keeps 3.5-inch display, adds 3,950mAh battery

AYANEO has released Pocket MICRO 2, its second mini horizontal Android handheld designed for retro gaming. The device is now available through the AYANEO online store starting at $239, with limited stock offered on a first-come, first-served basis. The new model keeps the same general concept as the original Pocket MICRO but updates the processor, battery, controls and chassis design.

3.5-inch 3:2 display returns

Pocket MICRO 2 keeps a 3.5-inch LCD with a 960×640 resolution and a 3:2 aspect ratio. AYANEO says this format allows native 4× scaling for Game Boy Advance titles without stretching the image. The display is rated at 330 PPI, with 100% sRGB coverage and 115% sRGB color volume.

The handheld measures 162×67.8×18mm and weighs around 248g. AYANEO uses a CNC all-metal middle frame and will offer the device in Midnight Black, Frosty White and a limited Stardust Purple color option. The company says the updated design also changes the grip shape and button placement compared to the previous model.

Snapdragon 865-class processor and larger battery

The main hardware change is the processor. Pocket MICRO 2 uses a customized chip in the Snapdragon 865 performance class, which AYANEO says delivers around 220% higher performance than the original Pocket MICRO. The device also includes active cooling, which should help maintain performance during longer gaming sessions.

Battery capacity has increased from 2,600mAh to 3,950mAh. AYANEO says this is a 52% increase over the first Pocket MICRO. The new model also includes a USB Type-C port with PD fast charging, a microSD card slot, Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.1 and a 3.5mm headphone jack.

Reworked controls with TMR joysticks

AYANEO has also updated the controls. Pocket MICRO 2 features larger D-pad and ABXY buttons, conductive rubber switches and recessed dual TMR joysticks. The shoulder buttons now use separated L1/L2 and R1/R2 structures with staggered heights to reduce accidental presses.

The software stack remains based around AYANEO’s own tools. AYASpace handles game management, local imports and database scraping, while AYAHome provides desktop customization. AYASetting adds performance modes, button customization and AI real-time translation features.
