Vietnamese repair shop reports severe RTX 5090 PCB burn damage
A Vietnamese GPU repair shop has shared a new GeForce RTX 5090 repair case showing damage around the graphics card power area. The report comes from quyle.gpufix, which says it received two RTX 5090 cards for repair.
According to the repair shop, one card had already been worked on before arrival. It reportedly had no power, no GPU detection and one missing A1 VRAM package. The shop says this card was repaired and returned the same day.
The second card was in worse condition. The repair shop claims the card had burn damage severe enough to kill both the GPU and VRAM. The post also criticizes the lack of additional protection on an expensive graphics card, with the shop arguing that a fuse could help prevent a short from burning through the PCB. Worst part? Warranty does not cover such claims, says the repair center.
A bit sad that a VGA card costing more than 100 million does not have an additional fuse designed by the manufacturer to prevent a short from causing the circuit board to burn through. But the warranty policy refuses fire and explosion cases. Fire and explosion are caused by the circuit and by faulty components made by the manufacturer, not by the user.

The post does not mention the board partner, although the repair shop shows a Dell OEM model in the background, so this may be an OEM variant. Unfortunately, there is no information on how this happened. The power supply, cable type, and whether the card used a native 12V-2×6 cable, adapter, or extension were not mentioned. Still, this is one of the worst examples of RTX 5090 burn damage we have seen so far.
The case still adds to the list of reported RTX 5090 power-related failures. At this point, it is unclear whether these cases will slow down, or whether GeForce RTX 4090 and RTX 5090 cards will keep appearing in repair-shop reports as long as 16-pin power designs remain in use, which is likely for years to come.
