Portal 2 is playable on upcoming Steam Frame VR headset
© Valve/h3LLcreator Portal 2 is one of the first Steam games to show a compatibility rating for Steam Frame, Valve’s upcoming standalone VR headset. The rating was spotted by Brad Lynch, who shared a screenshot of the Steam listing on X.
Portal 2 is marked as Playable
The game is listed as “Playable” on Steam Frame. This means the game can run on the headset, but it does not pass every check required for a Verified badge.
The compatibility notes say Portal 2 does not support Steam Frame’s native display resolution. Valve also notes that the game supports the default controller configuration, displays Steam Frame controller icons, has readable interface text and uses default graphics settings that perform well.
Valve already explains how this system works in its Steamworks documentation. Steam Frame ratings apply to games running locally on the headset, not games streamed from a PC. The program is an extension of the Steam Deck compatibility review process.

As a reminder, Steam Frame is able to play x86 Windows builds fully standalone on its ARM SteamOS build thanks to Proton and FEX

Steam Frame has its own test targets
For 2D titles, Valve requires at least 30 FPS at 1280×720 during normal gameplay. For VR titles, the target is at least 72 FPS at 1728×1728. VR games below 1440×1440 are marked as Unsupported.
Steam Frame is streaming-first wireless VR headset with standalone support for Steam games. Valve has not yet announced final pricing or an exact release date for the headset.
