Chinese President Xi Jinping has named a new head of the military’s anti-corruption body.
Zhang Shuguang , who was promoted from the rank of lieutenant general to full general, was named as the new head of the Central Military Commission’s Discipline Inspection Commission – the top military anti-corruption body – and director of the CMC’s supervision committee, replacing Zhang Shengmin.
Wang Gang was also promoted to the rank of full general and will take over as head of the People’s Liberation Army Air Force, state broadcaster CCTV reported.
Two other former CMC members Liu Zhenli and Miao Hua have also been targeted, leaving Xi and Zhang Shengmin as the only surviving members of the commission.
A total of 26 generals have been investigated since 2023, and 12 have disappeared from public view or missed important meetings.
