SteamOS 3.8.14 fixes slow WiFi on some routers
Valve has released SteamOS 3.8.14 for all users, with the same changes also available in the Beta and Preview channels as SteamOS 3.8.22. The stable update fixes an issue where WiFi speeds could be limited on certain routers that advertise incorrect MCS requirements. The update also includes security and stability improvements. Valve did not list additional device-specific changes for the stable 3.8.14 release.
A day earlier, Valve also pushed SteamOS 3.8.13 to the stable channel. That version fixed controller firmware update failures on certain Steam Deck models. It also addressed game crashes and launch failures in some titles, including FINAL FANTASY VII REBIRTH.
The wider list of changes appears in SteamOS 3.8.21 Beta, which targets the Beta and Preview channels. This build includes a faster Steam Machine splash screen at startup and a new option to reset all audio configuration and settings under Settings, Audio.

- Fixed a regression with Legion Go 1 models on older controller firmware where gyroscope would fail to initialize.
- Fixed a regression on OneXPlayer F1 models where rumble was being blocked and the joystick poll rate was low. As a consequence, the M1 (left) extra shoulder button is no longer able to function.
- Added controller support for missing OneXPlayer F1 and OneXPlayer 2 special edition models.
- Fixed an issue causing controller firmware updates to fail on certain Steam Deck models
Updates for 3rd party handhelds
Valve also fixed a 20 to 30 second startup delay in some games on non-Valve devices with no audio sources. The same beta update fixes regressions affecting MSI Claw devices, Lenovo Legion Go 1 models and OneXPlayer F1 systems.
For MSI Claw, Valve fixed an issue where some devices on newer firmware could lose access to the Guide and Quick Access Menu buttons. For Legion Go 1, the update fixes gyroscope initialization on older controller firmware. For OneXPlayer F1, Valve restored rumble and joystick polling behavior, although the M1 left shoulder button no longer functions as a result.
Valve also added controller support for missing OneXPlayer F1 and OneXPlayer 2 special edition models. This continues the recent SteamOS work for third-party handhelds, which has become more visible since the SteamOS 3.8 branch.
