AMD Ryzen AI Halo ‘launches’ at Micro Center for $3,999
AMD has launched Ryzen AI Halo, its developer-focused mini-PC powered by the Ryzen AI Max+ 395 processor. This is the company’s own Strix Halo system aimed at local AI development, with 128GB of LPDDR5X-8000 unified memory and Radeon 8060S graphics.
The system is offered in two variants, one with Windows 11 Pro and one with Linux. Both are listed by Micro Center at $3,999.99. The hardware appears to be identical, including a 2TB SSD, 10GbE, Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 5.4 and 120W TDP.

Despite today’s launch material claiming it is ‘now shipping’, the system does not appear to be available at the time of writing. Both Micro Center product pages show “Product Coming Soon” . The listing also says the system is available for in-store pickup only, which limits access to Micro Center locations in the United States.

Strix Halo shouldn’t cost this much
Strix Halo was introduced more than a year ago, and Ryzen AI Max+ 395 systems have already been available from several vendors. AMD is now launching its own platform with the same processor, while the next Ryzen AI Max PRO 400 series is already planned with up to 192GB of unified memory.
Pricing simply makes zero sense. Ryzen AI Halo costs more than any Strix Halo system from competitors. GMKtec’s EVO-X2 with 128GB memory costs $3400, which is $600 less than the AMD system.
