ASUS ROG GR70 combines Ryzen 9 HX CPUs with RTX 5070 and RTX 5060 Laptop GPUs
ASUS Republic of Gamers has announced the ROG GR70, a new gaming mini PC based on AMD Ryzen 9 processors and NVIDIA GeForce RTX 50 Laptop GPUs.
The system is ASUS’ first ROG gaming mini PC with an AMD Ryzen 9 CPU. The specification sheet includes Ryzen 9 9955HX3D, Ryzen 9 9955HX and Ryzen 9 8940HX options, all listed with a 55W target cTDP.
ASUS confirms Ryzen 9 9955HX3D support
The top CPU option is the Ryzen 9 9955HX3D, a Zen 5 processor with 16 cores, 32 threads and second-generation AMD 3D V-Cache. ASUS pairs the Ryzen 9 9955HX3D and Ryzen 9 9955HX with NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5070 Laptop GPU. The Ryzen 9 8940HX configuration uses the GeForce RTX 5060 Laptop GPU. Worth adding that the 9955HX3D variant is not yet available (at least in Europe).
The ROG GR70 uses a chassis measuring 282.4 × 187.7 × 56.5 mm. This gives it a volume of just under 3 liters. The system weighs 2.73 kg and uses an external 330W power adapter.
ASUS says the system uses ROG QuietFlow cooling with three fans and heat pipes. The press release claims noise levels below 4.5 dB(A) under demanding workloads, although this figure appears unusually low for a gaming PC and may need clarification from ASUS.
Two launch configurations confirmed
The GR70-N90039AN configuration costs €3,478 and includes a Ryzen 9 9955HX, GeForce RTX 5070 Laptop GPU, 32GB of DDR5-5600 memory, a 1TB PCIe Gen4 SSD and Windows 11 Home.
The cheaper GR70-N90043AN model costs €2,888. This version uses a Ryzen 9 8940HX, GeForce RTX 5060 Laptop GPU, 16GB of DDR5-5600 memory, a 1TB PCIe Gen4 SSD and Windows 11 Home. Direct currency conversion puts those prices at about $3,970 and $3,297 respectively, based on the latest ECB reference rate.
Needless to say, pricing is a bit absurd here, given we are talking about an old CPU series (already 1.5 years old), a single stick of DDR5 memory and 1TB of SSD, which is not even Gen5 (which these Ryzen CPUs support).
