Intel Dunlow Xeon leak points to 28-core hybrid Nova Lake-S CPU

Intel is preparing a new entry Xeon platform based on its upcoming Nova Lake-S architecture. Shipping records shared by X86 is dead&back mention the Dunlow platform with up to 28 cores, an LGA1954 socket and a processor power rating of up to 95W.

The records also specify two channels of DDR5 memory. This places Dunlow closer to Intel’s mainstream desktop platform than its larger Xeon workstation and server platforms, which support more memory channels and PCIe lanes.

The 28-core model likely uses a hybrid layout

The 28-core count matches the known single-compute-tile configuration for Nova Lake-S. This design combines 8 P-cores, 16 E-cores and 4 low-power E-cores. There is currently no evidence that Dunlow uses 28 P-cores.

The same 28-core configuration was mentioned as one of the variants for consumer Nova Lake-S lineup. Higher-end desktop models are expected to use two compute tiles, raising the maximum configuration to 52 cores.

A separate listing identifies the Supermicro MBD-X15SDCB-IN001. The board is described as an X15 single-socket Xeon E3 Dunlow customer reference board with LGA1954, dual-channel DDR5 and support for processors rated at up to 95W. The listing does not indicate that this model will become a retail motherboard.

Intel’s current Catlow entry-server platform supports the Xeon E-2400 and Xeon 6300 series on the LGA1700 socket. Intel recently expanded the Xeon 6300 family with a 12-core processor, while Dunlow would more than double the platform’s maximum core count.

Intel has not announced Dunlow, its final processor names or a launch schedule.
