MSI’s new RTX 5060 V1 cards replace GB206 with GB205
MSI has added four GeForce RTX 5060 V1 graphics cards to its global product website. The lineup includes GAMING, GAMING OC, VENTUS 2X and VENTUS 2X OC versions.
All four cards retain the standard RTX 5060 configuration with 3,840 CUDA cores and 8GB of GDDR7 memory. The memory runs at 28 Gbps through a 128-bit interface, providing 448 GB/s of bandwidth. The cards also use a PCIe 5.0 x8 interface.
RTX 5060 moves from GB206 to GB205
The V1 cards are based on a cut-down GB205 GPU rather than the GB206-250 used by existing RTX 5060 models. The full GB205 configuration powers the RTX 5070 with 6,144 CUDA cores and a 192-bit memory interface. Worth adding that first rumors about GB205-based RTX 5060 appeared in March , before any retail models had appeared.

For the RTX 5060 revision, NVIDIA disables additional processing units and one-third of the memory interface. The final configuration remains unchanged at 3,840 cores and 128 bits.
The largest specification change applies to the GAMING OC V1. Its boost clock drops from 2,625 MHz to 2,587 MHz, while power consumption falls from 155W to 150W. The standard GAMING V1 keeps its 2,497 MHz boost clock but also receives the lower 150W rating.
The V1 name does not clearly identify the GPU change. Buyers who want to avoid the GB205 version can check the backplate, where the PCB layout is easier to distinguish. The larger GB205 GPU uses a more rectangular mounting-hole pattern, while the GB206 layout is closer to a square.
The VENTUS 2X cards retain their previous clock speeds and 145W power rating. However, MSI lists both V1 versions at 548 grams, compared with 511 grams for the original cards. This indicates changes to the PCB, cooling assembly or both.
Pricing and availability remain unconfirmed
MSI has not announced prices or regional availability for the four V1 models. The products have appeared on the company’s global website, but the pages do not explain the GPU change or how buyers can distinguish the silicon without checking the complete model name.
What’s sort of new is that MSI is promoting these V1 models on their global website. Previously the SKUs with mixed GPU variants were exclusive to the Chinese market.
