Lenovo Legion R9000P is the first laptop with TCL CSOT’s inkjet-printed OLED panel

Lenovo Legion R9000P debuts with 16-inch 240 Hz inkjet-printed OLED display

Lenovo has launched a new Legion R9000P gaming laptop equipped with a 16-inch inkjet-printed OLED panel supplied by TCL CSOT. According to the display manufacturer, this is the first commercial laptop to use its IJP OLED technology.

The panel supports a 240 Hz refresh rate and covers more than 99% of the DCI-P3 color gamut. TCL CSOT says color performance remains consistent across different brightness levels, although the company did not disclose the panel’s resolution, peak brightness or response time.

Real RGB Stripe subpixel layout

The display uses a Real RGB Stripe arrangement, with red, green and blue subpixels placed side by side. This differs from the triangular and diamond-shaped layouts used by some OLED panels.

TCL CSOT says the RGB arrangement produces clearer text and reduces color fringing around fine interface elements. These characteristics may make the panel better suited to desktop applications where text clarity is more visible than in games or video playback.

OLED material deposited through inkjet printing

Inkjet-printed OLED production deposits organic light-emitting materials onto the panel using a printing process. Traditional OLED manufacturing commonly relies on vacuum thermal evaporation and fine metal masks to place the materials.

TCL CSOT claims the printing method simplifies production and reduces manufacturing costs by removing some expensive equipment and mask requirements. The company began mass production at its Gen 5.5 t12 facility in Wuhan in November 2024 and later announced the Gen 8.6 t8 production line. So, yes these laptops have exited for a while (at least in China).
