GPD confirms WIN MAX 3 with Strix Halo, 1,050-nit OLED and 97Wh battery
GPD has confirmed several specifications for the upcoming WIN MAX 3 handheld following weeks of leaks. The company says the current design uses AMD’s Strix Halo platform, a 165Hz OLED display and a replaceable 97Wh battery.
The Strix Halo model will support power consumption of up to 110W in handheld mode . GPD developed a modular cooling fan for the system, allowing the processor to reach this power limit without an external dock. The company has not confirmed which Strix Halo processors will be offered.
The OLED display has a peak brightness of 1,050 nits. GPD has not confirmed whether this figure applies across the entire panel or only to smaller areas during HDR playback. The 97Wh battery is also substantially larger than the 67Wh battery used by the WIN MAX 2.
GPD also teases Arc G3 Extreme hardware
A GPD representative also responded to a question about an Intel Arc G3 Extreme version. The representative confirmed that GPD has Arc G3 Extreme hardware in development, although the brief response did not clearly state whether it will use the same WIN MAX 3 chassis.
Intel Arc G3 Extreme combines a 14-core Panther Lake CPU with Arc B390 integrated graphics. The processor uses two Performance cores, eight Efficient cores and four Low Power Efficient cores, while the GPU features 12 Xe3 cores. Intel lists a maximum CPU clock of 4.7 GHz.
GPD says the AMD version of the WIN MAX 3 will be shown during the third quarter of 2026, placing its reveal before the end of September. Pricing, memory configurations and a specific release date have not been announced.
The company also warned that previously leaked specifications are not fully accurate because the leaked product page was created before development was completed. GPD says the device is still undergoing tuning, so other specifications may change before launch.
