Fallout 5 and two remasters confirmed, Obsidian is also developing a new Fallout game

Obsidian returns to Fallout as Bethesda confirms new project

Bethesda Game Studios has published a roadmap covering Fallout, The Elder Scrolls and Starfield. The studio confirmed two Fallout remasters, a new Obsidian Entertainment project and its development priorities for the coming years.

Fallout remasters and Obsidian project confirmed

Bethesda is working on remasters of Fallout 3 and Fallout: New Vegas . The company did not announce release dates or confirm which platforms will receive the updated games. Fallout 3 launched in 2008, while Obsidian developed Fallout: New Vegas for release in 2010.

Obsidian is also working with Bethesda on a separate Fallout project. No title or development details were shared. Bethesda only confirmed that the two studios have partnered again and will reveal more information later.

Fallout 5 remains planned as Bethesda’s next mainline entry, but it is still in preproduction. Fallout 76 will receive the Raven Rock expansion in 2027. Bethesda describes it as a prequel story to Fallout 3. The company is also preparing new seasons for Fallout Shelter and an unscripted television project with Amazon Studios and Kilter Films.

The Elder Scrolls VI is Bethesda’s main development focus

The Elder Scrolls VI is now the studio’s primary project, with most of the Bethesda Game Studios team assigned to development. Bethesda says internal builds are already playable and the project is progressing according to its planned schedule. The company still did not provide a release window.

The Elder Scrolls VI and Fallout 5 are being developed with Creation Engine 3. Bethesda has worked on the shared technology platform since Starfield launched. The engine includes updated rendering, tools and systems designed to support several projects at the same time.

Starfield will also continue receiving new stories, gameplay changes and other updates. Bethesda plans to release new Starborn content in 2027. The game has reached more than 17 million players, while over 40% of players have used Creations. Bethesda says creators have earned more than $10 million in royalties across its supported games.
