GeForce RTX 5060 refresh switches to larger GB205-200 GPU package

Yeston has released a new GeForce RTX 5060 8GB model based on a cut-down GB205 GPU rather than the smaller GB206 silicon used by earlier cards.

The GPU is labeled GB205-200-KA-A1. The standard GeForce RTX 5060 introduced in 2025 uses the GB206-250 processor and carries device ID 2D05. The newer GB205-based variant uses device ID 2F06.

The package is also physically different. The GB206 processor uses a square package, while the GB205 version has the same rectangular package design associated with the GeForce RTX 5070. Markings around the package, including the QR code, orientation dot, MLCC layout and edge features, also match the larger GB205 design.

The Yeston card keeps the standard 145W power target but uses a 16-pin power connector. This is unusual for an RTX 5060 because the card operates below the power level that normally requires the newer connector. Most 2026 models from MSI, ASUS and Gigabyte continue to use a standard 8-pin connector.

The PCB appears to be derived from an RTX 5070 board. It supports eight memory chip positions, compared with four positions on many GB206-based RTX 5060 boards. Only four chips are populated for the card’s 8GB configuration.

Yeston also appears to reuse a larger RTX 5070-class cooler. This gives the 145W card cooling hardware designed for a higher-power GPU, but it also increases the card’s size. Maxsun has reportedly taken a similar approach with one of its GB205-based RTX 5060 models.

The KA suffix may indicate that one memory channel has been disabled, although this has not been confirmed. The configuration allows NVIDIA and its partners to use partially disabled GB205 silicon while maintaining the RTX 5060 specification and 8GB memory capacity.
