Fanless RTX 4060 uses a massive 2.5 kg aluminum heatsink

A PC builder has created a fanless GeForce RTX 4060 using a 2.5 kg aluminum heatsink. The custom cooler is several times larger than the graphics card PCB and relies entirely on passive airflow.
The design uses a tall block of extruded aluminum fins attached directly to the GPU. The large gaps between the fins allow warm air to rise through the cooler through natural convection, removing the need for any fans. Due to the weight of the card, and fanless block, the system is open style on some kind of test bench. The vertical GPU mount definitely helps here, given the weight of this card approaches massive RTX 5090 models.

Fanless graphics cards have become rare in recent years. Higher GPU power limits make passive cooling harder, while the required heatsinks can become too large and heavy for standard desktop systems.
The GeForce RTX 4060 is one of the more suitable modern GPUs for such a project due to its 115W total graphics power. The finished card is still impractical for most systems, but it shows that a current-generation GPU can operate without active cooling when paired with enough aluminum.
