Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic Remake Reportedly Nears Reveal After 3 Years of Saber Rebuilding It From Scratch

The Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic remake was announced a while back, but the game has yet to release, let alone be properly revealed. Since its announcement , it has gone through some rather tumultuous development , shifting from Aspyr Media to Saber Interactive , and the long silence on it was only broken earlier this year by Saber CCO Tim Willits , who confirmed that development is continuing . According to reliable insider 100% Star Wars , the plan is still to reveal the game before the end of 2026 , as development is proceeding very smoothly.

"Development on the game has not only been ramping up, but it's going extremely smoothly over the past 3 years since Saber started from scratch," the insider said in a fresh video , commenting on the possibility of the game indeed launching in 2028 .

"They have been hiring some extremely high-end talent from across the industry, and Saber is very much a unified front when it comes to the development of this game with resources and talent being pulled from all over the company." Unfortunately, development of the Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic remake going so well is not a guarantee for a 2028 release , given everything that is going on with the industry , the insider added.

Still, a proper reveal for the Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic remake shouldn't be too far off in the future. 100% Star Wars is aware of a reveal being planned for this year, but the insider believes the chance it could slip to 2027 and take advantage of Star Wars Celebration , which takes place from April 1 to April 4 . This, however, is a guess, as a reveal is still planned for 2026 , with The Game Awards show in December possibly being the biggest stage for this highly anticipated reveal .

As, even with the inevitable changes the remake will bring, the Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic story is a known quantity, it will be very interesting to see how the game will play.

According to 100% Star Wars , the combat mechanics could be likened to a poor man's Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order with Final Fantasy VII Remake series pause mechanics , which is more than enough to get excited about the game , as the series' combat system is, in my opinion, among the best RPG combat systems of all time , masterfully combining action and turn-based gameplay in a way that indeed feels like a modernization of the classic real-time with pause mechanics used by the original game developed by BioWare .
