Framework confirms Linux version of 192GB Ryzen AI Max Desktop

Framework has previewed a new Framework Desktop configuration with AMD’s Ryzen AI Max+ PRO 495 processor and 192GB of unified memory. The company calls it the first 192GB system based on this processor. It was demonstrated during AMD’s Advancing AI event.
The new option extends the lineup above the Ryzen AI Max+ 395 configuration with 128GB of memory. Ryzen AI Max+ PRO 495 retains 16 Zen 5 cores and 40 RDNA 3.5 Compute Units, but raises the CPU boost clock to 5.2 GHz. It also uses Radeon 8065S graphics and includes an NPU rated for up to 55 TOPS.
Framework says the additional capacity is enough to run DeepSeek-V4-Flash at Q8 on one system while leaving memory available for a longer context window. DeepSeek-V4-Flash has 284 billion total parameters and 13 billion active parameters. One Q8 GGUF build occupies about 162GB.

The updated Framework Desktop also changes the PCIe x4 slot to an open-ended design. This allows longer PCIe cards to be installed directly, although they continue to operate through four PCIe lanes. Framework is also preparing a prebuilt version with a Linux distribution installed.
Framework demonstrated the slot using two 50GbE network adapters with RDMA over Ethernet. The proof-of-concept cluster connects two 192GB systems and uses tensor parallelism to access 384GB of memory across both computers.
Prepare to pay even more for memory upgrade
Pricing and availability have not been announced. Framework expects the 192GB configuration to cost much more than the current 128GB option due to rising LPDDR5X prices. As we reported last month, GMKtec has also confirmed an EVO-X3 configuration with the same processor and memory capacity for later this year.
