Spain’s government declared a national emergency on Friday after wildfires forced the evacuation of thousands of people in the central region of Madrid.
The authorities later ordered the evacuation of 7,000 more people from two new localities west of Madrid.
Emergency messages were sent to the phones of people in the two villages affected.
The evacuations came on top of 19,000 people in the Madrid region already told to leave their villages or remain in their homes with windows and doors sealed.

Meanwhile, large forest fires also burned out of control in southwestern France, prompting authorities to evacuate an estimated 87,000 people from their homes.
