AMD confirms Zen 7 Florence for 2028 and Zen 8 Ravenna for 2030

AMD has extended its server CPU and Instinct GPU roadmaps through 2030. The updated plans confirm 7th Gen EPYC “Florence” with Zen 7 cores, 8th Gen EPYC “Ravenna” with Zen 8 cores and the Instinct MI600 accelerator series.
AMD previously confirmed the Zen 7 architecture and its new matrix engine. However, this is the first official confirmation that Florence will use Zen 7 and serve as the company’s 7th Gen EPYC family.
EPYC Florence launches in 2028 with Zen 7 and Zen 7c
Florence is scheduled for 2028 and will include Zen 7 and Zen 7c cores. AMD lists a next-generation process node, ACE AI Compute Extensions and support for next-generation MRDIMM and LPDDR memory.

© AMD The family will cover two server platforms. Florence for SP7 will focus on core count and performance, while the SP8 version will target enterprise systems with a greater focus on performance per system cost. AMD also listed Zen 7-based Ferrara for AI host nodes and Fidenza for systems optimized around performance per watt.
The updated roadmap clears up AMD’s earlier plans for EPYC Verano. Verano remains scheduled for the Helios 500 rack platform in 2027, while Florence is now confirmed as the 7th Gen EPYC platform arriving one year later. AMD has not disclosed which CPU architecture Verano uses.
AMD is already preparing an 8th Gen EPYC successor called Ravenna. The processor is scheduled for 2030 and will use the Zen 8 family of CPU cores. The company did not disclose its process node, core count, memory support or server socket.
Instinct MI600 and Helios 600 scheduled for 2028
AMD’s updated Instinct roadmap maintains an annual release schedule. The MI400 Series with CDNA 5 arrives in 2026, followed by the CDNA 6-based MI500 Series with HBM4e memory in 2027.
© AMD The Instinct MI600 Series is scheduled for 2028 and is currently listed with a “CDNA Next” architecture. AMD has not confirmed an architecture number, memory type, capacity or compute specifications for the accelerators.
MI600 will power the AMD Helios 600 rack platform alongside EPYC Ferrara processors and Pensando Palma and Levanzo networking. Helios 500 will arrive a year earlier with Instinct MI500 GPUs, EPYC Verano CPUs and Pensando Como and Monza hardware.
Sad that AMD can give investors a roadmap for data-center products up to 2030, but they can’t even tell us when new Radeon GPUs will come out.
