Blizzard's Battle.net Gets Online Age Verification in UK

Following the recently passes UK Online Safety Act law, everything from Discord to PlayStation Network , and even Roblox , have at least experimented with adding online age verification with systems like Persona and ID.me. Now, it seems as though Blizzard is following suit, locking the social features of Battle.net accounts in the UK behind online age verification.

As explained in a recent Battle.net support article , "To comply with the UK Online Safety Act, age verification may be required for some Battle.net Accounts. Unverified accounts will have limited access to features such as voice chat, text chat, and any other social interactions with people other than friends until verification is completed." Users who do not verify their age as above 18 will lose access to some Battle.net features, including "social interactions and access to age‑restricted content."
