EmuDeck update fixes missing controls on Valve Steam Machine

EmuDeck has updated its emulator configuration tools for Valve’s Steam Machine. The developers say the system is now ready for use after fixes for SD card detection and missing controller support in some emulators.
Users who installed EmuDeck before the fixes should not need to download the full package again. According to the developers, reopening the affected emulator should apply the corrected configuration without requiring a manual update or a switch to SteamOS Desktop Mode.
EmuDeck installs and configures separate emulators
EmuDeck is not an emulator. It is an installation and configuration tool that downloads supported emulators from their official repositories and applies settings prepared for SteamOS, Windows, macOS and Android. Those who tried emulation know that setting everything up may take a long time, this tool helps with that.
The tool creates folders for ROMs and BIOS files, configures controller hotkeys and can add games or frontends to the Steam library. Emulator updates and configuration resets can also be managed through the same application. Of course, users must provide their own game files and BIOS data, as EmuDeck does not include them.
The Steam Machine is now EmuDeck ready!
We've fixed some bugs related to the SD Card detection and missing controls in some emulators. These fixes are automatic, just launch any emulator from Game Mode and it will fix itself! No need to go back to Desktop mode or reinstall. pic.twitter.com/tcRCyRLGKu— EmuDeck (@EmuDeck) July 24, 2026
Performance tuning is coming next
The current Steam Machine profiles use a 720p rendering resolution by default. Users can change this to 1080p through the EmuDeck application, while less demanding systems may also run at 4K.
EmuDeck says its next update will focus on emulator performance. The latest release was instead aimed at problems that could prevent games from finding storage or receiving input from the Steam Controller.
