Lenovo Legion 27-1r brings 280Hz IPS gaming to the $116 range

Lenovo has released two Legion gaming monitors in China. The 23.8-inch Legion 24-1r costs 669 yuan, while the 27-inch Legion 27-1r is listed at 789 yuan. These prices convert to approximately $99/€87 and $116/€102 , respectively.

Both models use flat IPS panels with a 1920×1080 resolution and a native refresh rate of up to 280Hz. Lenovo rates them for 400 nits brightness, a 1000:1 contrast ratio and 99% coverage of the sRGB color space. The panels produce 8-bit output through 6-bit plus FRC processing.

280Hz requires DisplayPort

Lenovo lists a 0.5ms MPRT response time and four overdrive settings ranging from 4ms to 1ms. Enabling the MPRT mode on the 24-1r disables AMD FreeSync Premium and may introduce some flickering, according to Lenovo’s specification sheet.

The port selection includes one DisplayPort 1.4 HBR3 input, two HDMI 2.1 TMDS inputs and a 3.5mm audio output. The HDMI connections support up to 1920×1080 at 240Hz, so DisplayPort is required to reach the full 280Hz refresh rate.

Same features in two sizes

Both monitors support AMD FreeSync Premium, VESA Adaptive-Sync and HDR10 signals. Lenovo does not list a VESA DisplayHDR certification. The 24-inch model has a pixel density of 93 PPI, compared with 82 PPI for the larger 27-inch version.

Lenovo includes stands with 135mm of height adjustment, pivot, swivel and tilt controls. Both displays also support 100×100mm VESA mounting. The monitors are already listed in Lenovo’s global PSREF database, but US and European retail pricing has not been announced.
