Steam Deck gets a Raspberry Pi security system

Rather than hiding the device or enabling a lock screen, the owner built a spiked case and connected it to a Raspberry Pi-controlled warning system.
Redditor ConroyyJenkinss modeled the orange case in Blender and produced it with a 3D printer. The large spikes are intended to make the Steam Deck uncomfortable to pick up, although they also make it difficult for the owner to use without removing the entire cover.
The Steam Deck can detect approaching family members
The system includes a Raspberry Pi, a small speaker, an object-detection camera and a servo motor. A Python script monitors the camera feed and plays an audio warning when a person enters the frame. If the person remains nearby, the servo activates a taser mounted above the Steam Deck.
The creator says the taser is intended to scare people away rather than directly shock anyone. According to the original post, the project achieved its objective and family members now ask for permission before using the Steam Deck.
A password would have been easier
Several Reddit users pointed out that SteamOS supports PIN protection, while others suggested using a locked carrying case. Those options would prevent access to the software, but they would not stop someone from picking up the device or repeatedly attempting to unlock it.
