Gigabyte AORUS RTX 5080 Infinity has one of the strangest RTX 5080 PCBs

Chiphell has disassembled the Gigabyte AORUS GeForce RTX 5080 Infinity Wood, revealing one of the most unusual custom RTX 5080 PCB layouts. Gigabyte redesigned almost the entire board around its Double Flow Through cooling system rather than adapting a conventional full-length PCB.
A single PCB with a large opening
Unlike the three-part PCB used by the RTX 5090 Founders Edition, the RTX 5080 Infinity relies on one board. Gigabyte removed a large section behind the primary cooler fan, leaving several narrow PCB strips across the opening. These sections still contain traces connecting components on opposite sides of the board.
© Chiphell The layout allows air to pass through both sides of the card, a design more commonly associated with NVIDIA Founders Edition cards. The RTX 5080 Infinity does not copy NVIDIA’s layout, however. Its PCB is shallow and built around a much larger opening, making the exposed board appear more vulnerable to bending when removed from its metal support structure.









Workstation-style 16-pin connector
Gigabyte also rearranged the power delivery system. The MSVDD rail extends to the right side of the GPU package, while the RTX 5080 Founders Edition places its main MSVDD connections on the left. The card also uses a recessed workstation-style 16-pin connector with a built-in extension carrying six conductors.
© TechPowerUP A thick metal block secures the 16-pin socket, but the teardown shows no thermal pad, paste, or putty between the connector and the block. It therefore appears to provide mechanical reinforcement rather than direct connector cooling. The teardown shows how much Gigabyte changed the PCB to accommodate the pass-through cooler and rear-facing power connection.
