Xbox network goes down
Xbox network services are experiencing another outage, with users unable to sign in, view parts of their game libraries or launch some titles. Microsoft’s status page lists disruptions affecting Account & profile, Store & subscriptions, and Apps & mobile at the time of writing.
Xbox Support confirmed that some users are having trouble loading Xbox Home, Game Pass and Game Library pages. Reports also include games disappearing from libraries and ownership warnings appearing on purchased or Game Pass titles. The disruption does not appear to affect every user.
Second Xbox disruption in four days
This is the second Xbox service disruption in less than a week. Xbox Live services went down on July 23, the same day that early access started for Halo: Campaign Evolved. That outage affected the Store, subscriptions, social features, cloud gaming, remote play and Xbox app access.

The timing caused more problems for players who purchased the Premium Edition of Halo: Campaign Evolved. The $69.99 edition included up to five days of early access before the full release on July 28, but some Xbox and PC players could not launch the game. Halo Support later said that the Premium Edition access issue had been resolved.
© Microsoft PlayStation Network was down on Friday
PlayStation Network also suffered an outage on Friday, July 24. Users reported problems signing in, accessing the PlayStation Store, downloading content and launching digital games. Reports covered several PlayStation platforms, while access remained intermittent for some users.
© Sony Sony later restored its affected services, and the official PlayStation status page currently lists Gaming and social, PlayStation Video and PlayStation Store as operational. Microsoft has not disclosed the cause of the latest Xbox disruption or provided a recovery time. The company says its engineers are investigating the problem.
Digital future
The back-to-back outages arrive as Sony continues pushing disc-free hardware and digital distribution. Services can usually recover within hours, but account verification and library failures may still prevent users from accessing games they purchased. For players already concerned about an all-digital future, the Xbox and PlayStation disruptions provide another example of how game access can depend on remote servers.
