Ubisoft recently tipped that there were two Far Cry games in the works . Although the game studio hadn't revealed what those two Far Cry projects were, they were believed to be Far Cry 7 and a new extraction shooter internally referred to as Maverick. According to a new report by Insider Gaming , Maverick has officially been scrapped, with a new game popping up in its wake.
Supposedly, the new game, codenamed Kodiak, has passed the conceptualization phase and entered production. It will be built on the same bones as Maverick—likely to avoid wasting already spent development resources, but it will no longer be an extraction shooter. Instead, Kodiak has been reported to be an open-world FPS in which "player interactions and player-driven stories take center stage."
