Valve says Steam Machine reservation queue will be cleared by end of 2026, adds FSR 4.1 and CAD files
Valve has published an update on Steam Machine availability, software support, and hardware customization. The company says it began shipping the compact SteamOS system at the end of June and is now processing orders daily.
Valve expects everyone currently holding a Steam Machine reservation to receive an option-to-purchase email by the end of 2026. This does not include everyone on the waitlist, and it does not guarantee delivery by the end of the year. Customers have 72 hours to complete the purchase after receiving the email.
© Valve Reservation queues and waitlists are separated by product configuration and region. Some queues have already been cleared, allowing Valve to invite customers from the corresponding waitlists. Valve says waitlisted customers are not being moved ahead of existing reservation holders.
FSR 4.1 and CAD files
The update also confirms that AMD FSR 4.1 is now available through Proton Experimental for games that support the FSR upgrade function. Steam Machine uses an RDNA 3 GPU, making the newer upscaler available without requiring a native Linux version of each supported game.
Valve has also released a CAD file containing the Steam Machine’s external geometry. The file gives accessory makers and users the dimensions required to design cases, mounts, and replacement faceplates. Valve previously released CAD files for the Steam Controller and its wireless Puck in May.
