One of the Nova Lake SKUs with a specific configuration will operate at up to 65W to unlock full performance.
The Intel Nova Lake family will be quite comprehensive when it comes to the configuration. The Nova Lake S desktop processors will particularly include a wide range of SKUs, featuring models with up to 52 cores. This will reportedly lead to a massive 474W of PL2 power on the flagship SKU , but one should expect the majority of the SKUs to fall under 65W, 125W, and 175W power tiers.
This includes even 22 core chips that will operate at 125W and 65W , as we reportedly previously. However, the APU lineup is particularly interesting, since it will require additional power to unlock full performance. As reported by @Jaykihn, one of the Nova Lake-S SKUs will require 65W power delivery to operate at full power. This is a specific model that brings 12 Xe3P cores, which we have talked about in earlier posts.
The SKU will boast a 4+8+4 core configuration for the CPU, and 12 dedicated Xe3P cores for its integrated graphics. It's also one of the only kinds to have two VCCGT power phases for the integrated graphics, as a single phase won't be adequate, like in other SKUs. With this configuration, the Nova Lake-S 16-core APU looks quite strong for the mainstream market, considering we mostly have up to 8-core APUs from AMD.
AMD has yet to deliver Zen 5-based APUs for the AM5 platform, and all we have from the company is the Zen 4-based Ryzen 8000G series. APUs like Ryzen 8700G operate at 65W as well, and offer decently powerful integrated graphics, but they won't stand a chance against the 12 Xe3P-based integrated graphics on next-gen Intel Nova Lake-S. On top of that, more cores will further improve computing performance, making them a solid option for the budget systems.
