The Steam Machine has received FSR 4.1 support through Proton Experimental, as Valve shares more updates.

AMD's latest upscaling technology has finally arrived on the Steam Machine . Valve has shared some updates on its newest gaming console on the official website, including the availability of FSR (FidelityFX Super Resolution) 4.1 upscaling technology for supported games. In the quick Steam Machine updates, the company has stated that FSR 4.1 will now be available through Proton Experimental for supporting FSR games.

FSR 4.1 remains the best available FSR version to date, offering a drastic visual upgrade compared to previous FSR versions. Through Proton Experimental, which is a preview branch, Valve has introduced FSR 4.1 as it usually does before the stable Proton releases. This means that Steam Machine users running SteamOS can test FSR 4.1 in supported titles without waiting for a future stable release.

Moreover, Valve has also released Steam Machine CAD files, which contain precise 3D dimensions of the system's exterior, allowing modders and enthusiasts to design compatible stands, mounts, skins, enclosures, etc. with accurate measurements.

Another update has been shared regarding the reservation queue. Valve says that the purchase invitations are still being sent every day to reservation holders based on their position in the queue. According to the company, everyone who currently holds a reservation will receive the opportunity to purchase the Steam Machine before the end of the year.

Valve has also reminded users that once users receive the purchase invitation, they have 72 hours to complete their order, and if that purchase isn't completed within the timeframe, the opportunity will be passed to the next customer in the queue.
