Russian buyer films $1,125 RTX 5070 Ti unboxing, finds water bottle in sealed package

A Russian customer who ordered a Gigabyte GeForce RTX 5070 Ti from Wildberries reportedly received a two-liter bottle of water instead. The graphics card was priced at 90,000 rubles, equivalent to around $1,125.

The video was shared by oldValkyrie. It shows the customer inspecting the graphics card package and recording its serial-number label before removing the outer wrapping and opening the box.

The retail packaging appeared intact before the opening. However, the inner box contained a large plastic water bottle instead of the Gigabyte graphics card. The bottle likely provided enough weight to make the package feel less suspicious before it was opened.

Buyer recorded the opening at the pickup point

The customer opened the package inside a Wildberries pickup point and recorded the entire process. This is the same Russian retailer that recently appeared in international news after Ukrainian drone attacks struck several of its warehouses and logistics facilities.

The recording begins as a pickup-point employee hands the package directly to the customer. The buyer then shows the labels and opens the box on camera. This makes it difficult to claim that the customer replaced the graphics card before recording the video.

We always recommend recording the opening of expensive hardware. Setting up a phone takes only a few seconds, and the footage can be deleted afterward when everything is correct. Recording inside the pickup point is even better, since surveillance cameras and employees can provide additional evidence.

To be honest, I have never seen a video with this much evidence, so there should be no dispute that the buyer did not tamper with the product after receiving it. The remaining question is who made the switch. Is Gigabyte now providing extra liquid cooling with the RTX 5070 Ti, or is someone running a high-end scam that involves resealing the box?
