Good luck if you can find a 32 GB DDR5 memory kit for under $400, but this guy grabbed it for the cost of a burger. The Redditor u/JuniTheFox posts on the PC Master Race sub-Reddit about his story of getting an extremely cheap memory kit from his local Thrift Store in the Netherlands. As you can see, he is holding a Kingston Fury memory kit, which states a 32 GB (2x 16 GB) configuration.

It's a 6000 MT/s DDR5 memory kit, which currently costs a whopping $600 on Amazon . Usually, many DDR5 32 GB kits with a similar speed are listed for around $400-$450, but this particular kit is quite expensive. It used to sell for under $150 before the RAMpocalypse, but the prices have been steadily increasing over the last year.

The Redditor was incredibly lucky with his purchase of this "open-boxed" Kingston DDR5 memory that he found at his local Thrift Store. As we have seen several times, it's easier to find hardware for extremely cheap on local Thrift and Goodwill stores , but finding such components alone is a challenge. For this user, the kit was available for just €12.50, which is like US$14.40 .

So, he technically paid just 2.4% of the current retail price for the memory kit. Even though it isn't a brand new kit, it's still a solid deal, given the current state of the market. DDR5 memory kits are easily selling for up to 5X higher than their usual rates. They are getting more expensive each day, and such a volatile market has resulted in higher GPU prices too.

Getting a used memory kit won't harm at all, and helps in building a PC for cheap. Hence, it's advised to check your local Goodwill stores to find such cheap hardware, and you might get extremely lucky like this user.
