Lexar releases DDR5-7200 CL38 memory with Chinese DRAM and XMP/EXPO support
Lexar has released a 32GB DDR5 memory kit built with Chinese-made DRAM chips. The THOR RGB DDR5 Gen 2 kit includes two 16GB modules rated for DDR5-7200.
The memory uses 38-48-48-86 timings at 1.40V. Lexar confirms support for Intel XMP 3.0 and AMD EXPO profiles, allowing the rated settings to be applied on compatible Intel and AMD motherboards.
Compatible with Intel Z890, B860 and AMD B850
Lexar’s compatibility sheet lists 43 motherboards for the DDR5-7200 kit. This includes 30 ASUS models and 13 MSI models based on Intel Z890, Intel B860 and AMD B850 chipsets.
The ASUS list includes the TUF Gaming Z890-Pro WiFi, ROG Strix B860-F Gaming WiFi, Prime B860M-A WiFi and ROG Strix B850-F Gaming WiFi7 Neo. MSI support covers boards such as the MEG Z890 ACE, MPG Z890 Carbon WiFi, Pro Z890-A WiFi, MAG B850M Mortar and B850MPOWER.
© Lexar No X870 or older-generation platforms appear in the supplied compatibility chart. This does not necessarily mean that the memory will not operate on other boards. It only confirms the configurations tested or listed by Lexar.
Chinese DRAM manufacturer remains unconfirmed
The promotional material confirms the use of selected domestically produced DRAM chips. However, Lexar does not identify the manufacturer, so the modules cannot be confirmed as using CXMT memory based on the available information.
Each module has a sandblasted aluminum heat spreader, thermal pads and eight LEDs supporting 13 RGB lighting effects. Lexar rates the operating temperature at 0°C to 85°C and provides a limited lifetime warranty. The same compatibility sheet also references a faster 32GB DDR5-7600 CL38 version of the THOR RGB kit.
© Lexar The DDR5-7200 kit is listed in China for 3,999 yuan, equivalent to around $592 or €513 before regional taxes. Lexar has not confirmed pricing or availability plans outside China.
