Lekuo has introduced a unique AMD B650 chipset-powered PCIe expansion card that adds multiple M.2, SATA, and USB ports through a single PCIe Gen4 x4 connection.
Chinese hardware maker Lekuo has officially unveiled a new PCIe add-in-card that brings chipset-like expansion capabilities. The card is powered by the AMD's B650 chipset and is designed to expand a single PCIe Gen4 x4 slot into multiple storage and USB connections without needing a motherboard PCIe lane bifurcation support.
The low-profile card measures 174 mm in length and 69 mm in height, which positions it as a great solution for compact systems. Despite using the PCIe Gen4 x4 uplink, the B650 chipset intelligently allocates bandwidth across connected devices through dynamic bandwidth scheduling and offers a wide range of connectivity.

This includes 4x M.2 PCIe SSD slots, 4x SATA III 6 Gbps ports, 1x USB Type-C 20 Gbps port, 1x USB Type-C 10 Gbps port, and 2x USB Type-A 10 Gbps ports. One should, however, expect some bandwidth limitations. For instance, when the two front-side M.2 slots are populated, both SSDs will operate at Gen4 x4 speeds, but when the rear M.2 slots are populated, all four M.2 slots will switch to Gen4 x2 speeds.
Still, the PCIe card is an excellent add-in-card with versatile functionality that doesn't require external power for adding additional devices. Lekuo states that the expansion card supports multiple operating systems, including Windows, Linux, and macOS, making it suitable for a wide range of systems.
The product could be ideal for home server builders, NAS users, and content creators who need to connect multiple SSDs and storage drives without sacrificing compatibility. Pricing-wise, the device will cost 599 Yuan , which translates to around US$89 , and is available to purchase from JD.
